ALL ABOUT PLAYING - Interview by PinkNouNou

My family has recently been featured on a blog called "All About Playing" by the lovely & talented Portuguese textiles designer & soft toy maker Ana of PinkNounou.

We had a ton of fun with this interview about how parents interact and play with their children from different locations across the globe. It was sweet to have shared about our daughters & our love of Midcoast Maine.

KNEE-DEEP IN APPLIQUES

My new line of Cashmere Homewares is in the making for 2015: pillows, throws, table runners, placemats, coasters, accessories, and kids' rooms wall decor ~ all designed with handcut cashmere appliques: friendly graphic shapes with bold pops of color! All new cashmere homewares will be available from my website mid-March.

LOVE TRIANGLES

Whimsical Doll Cradle DIY ~ a Lena Corwin design

For their birthdays my husband and I gave our two daughters a doll bed that I refurbished from an old baby cradle. I painted it with a Scandinavian/mythical animals pattern from textiles designer Lena Corwin's book Printing by Hand. For a piece of furniture that was clunky, brown and rather ugly to start with, we were thrilled with its new look!

With 4 layers of over-painting, and oodles of stencil cutting (first from photocopies, and then from contact paper), making this was a labor of love! Our daughters were over-the-moon on birthday morning!

 

                              

                        

   

The mythical animal stencils were patterns I gratefully copied from the book Printing by Hand: A Modern Guide to Printing with Handmade Stamps, Stencils, and Silk Screens, by textile designer Lena Corwin. This project below, from Corwin's book, was the inspiration:
